Kayak Fishing Rodeo 7th Anniversary on Friday through Sunday: October 8 to 10, 2010
This is the seventh year for the Kayak Fishing Rodeo. Over the last six years, we’ve seen some extraordinary fish caught at the Rodeo, met new fishing partners and made lasting friendships. This is not only a fun and exciting kayak fishing tournament, it’s a family friendly weekend event on the CT shoreline at the peak of the fall fishing season.
This year's rodeo is hosted by Ultimate Kayak Fishing at King Cove Marina and Outfitters in Stonington Connecticut.
Tournament registration is $50.00.
You can sign up individually, with a fishing partner or group. For safety reasons (and to simplify documenting your catch) we strongly encourage every competitor to partner with one or more angler on the water during the tournament (we are happy to provide fishing partners for solo anglers).
The tournament begins at 5:00 PM Friday October 8'th with an informal check-in at King Cove Marina. All participants must check in at King Cove at 5:00 PM Saturday (or later) prior to fishing in the tournament. Pre-registered anglers can pick up the "Angler Welcome Package" on the anytime on Friday October 8th at King Cove Marina, but they still must check in after 5:00 PM at King Cove. Anglers can sign up at King Cove anytime after official starting time (5:00 PM Friday).
There is no "Captain’s meeting" and all anglers can start fishing after tournament staff has approved your safety gear. Please refer to the official tournament rules for a list of required safety gear for all tournament participants.
The Kayak Fishing Rodeo ends on Sunday October 10 at 12:00 noon, with a 1-hour grace period to turn in tournament slips. Any fish caught after 12:00 noon Sunday is ineligible for tournament purposes and any measurement slips returned after 1:00 PM on Sunday will be disqualified. Measurement slips can be turned in at anytime before 1:00 PM on Sunday. This allows anglers who are unable to attend the cookout and award cermony to submit fish for the tournament prize drawing.
After the Rodeo, we'll meet back at at the King Cove Marina for a cookout and prizes. Please remember, the Rodeo is over at noon on Sunday; everyone will have one hour to drive or paddle to the marina. At 1:00 PM, lunch will be served and the slips will be tallied. After lunch, the drawing will begin. Anglers who cannot attend the awards ceremony and raffle should make prior arrangements with the tournament staff to be considered for prize awards.
